I like the twist that Bram Boo gives to the furniture he creates. most of them have a traditional look at first glimpse, but by adding elements in a disturbing way or an unexpected way, he creates visual confronting pieces.

SEBASTIAN HERKNER. BASK BASKETS AND BELL TABLE.

Sebastian Herkner, designed for MOROSO this range of objects, baskets named Basks. Inspired, when on a trip to Spain, he visited a company producing yarns with paper.He developed with Moroso and this company a special paper and technique to use in a tridimensional way and create useful objects to store things.

Even used upside down,they have a function as small side table.

BELL TABLE.

For the German company,CLASSICON, Herkner designed side tables that make us think.

We are not used to see a heavy material on top of a transparent one. This gives a troubled vision.

Our perception is tricked by the upside down use of glass and metal. Oeps…. it will brake, was my first reaction, when I saw this table.

The transparency of the glass bell makes the heavy material that is used on the top seem as floating

I would like to show you our favourite collections that we composed the last months. A variety of collected items. To create a collection, we start from an idea or just from one particular piece and then chasing around to find more of them. It will often take a long time before we consider that a collection is ready.

UGLY SHOES.

I’m not used to write negative things, but about this I have to say what I think about .

Why the gdrbgggrrrr, woman want to wear this kind of atrocities? Is it a sportshoe? No of course not, to high, it has a compensated heel. Could it be for Chinese Lotus feet? Nono the shoe is too long, but I thought about it. Is it fashion? No it is business and ugly and not at all elegant.Is it clownesque? No it is not even funny. Is it feminine? No of course not, it will suit an elephant.

Is this a summer shoe? Is it because we have dreadful weather in May. NO girls no excuses. A sportshoe can be nice only when you do sport or walk. A shoe with a heel is so sexy and give such a nice silhouette. Kitten heel, ballerina, tower heels, yes sexy.

Don’t understand me wrongly, Comfort is an absolute must for everyone of us. A comfy shoe and you pass the day without problems……but…..

This is the ultimate not to have shoe.

They look as children’s shoes, but they aren’t.

Even in a fancy colour, they are unwearable. And in fact with what kind of clothes you wear with this ?

BARBER OSGERBY.

B&B ITALIA has edited a very beautiful table designed by Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby. The English duo has been inspired by the round pebbles in Japanese gardens.They called the table ”TOBI -ISHI”.

The top and the 2 bases are made of different materials. The top is made from wood and the base ,from polyutherane. The finish,although is made of a cement grout to create a kind of leather effect.

For me this is an example of timeless design that will look astonishing in different styles of homes and interiors.

I hope that a dining table will be edited too. Not really as for dining, but to put in an entrance hall or in a living room with objects on display.

A living and dining room needed a make over and my client wanted a more minimal approach of her interior.The only new item that we bought are the 3 chauffeuses that we put together to make a large sofa. All the other furniture comes from other rooms or from their house at the seaside. As for example the Pierre Paulin chairs and the danish inspired coffee table.

I had the walls painted in a light grey colour that is constantly changing with the different sources of light.

The Venitian blinds were removed and the Oriental carpets were rolled up and put in the attic together with the furniture we didn’t use anymore.

The antique parquet de Versailles is now visible in all his splendor and the room breaths a contemporary air.

JAPANESE ARCHITECTURE.

Since I am on Pinterest, I saw a lot of pictures of minimalist houses. Most of them are in Japan. The audacity of the architecture left me open mouthed. I saw some times in magazines houses that I liked , but never realised that there was such an open minded variety of concepts. And the ability to realise them. It is not in Belgium, with our still very traditional approach to architecture of the past, that you would see these incredible houses where actually people live in.

And I don’t believe that the climate is making the difference.

DECOR CHANGE.

The same wall, but a different display of objects. The first display is our collections of vintage bamboo mirrors, Most of them came from England and were made in the 1950.s

The second display is a collections of north African Tea Trays in copper. Some were meant to put on foldable legs and be used as tables, but definitely all were used to put the little coloured glasses filled with mint tea.

Have a nice day and to keep you warm, nothing as good as a wonderful hot tea or a delicious strong coffee.

For myself it is a kind of memory board of all things I like, of course handbags and fashion but also architecture ,art, gadgets, cars, animals, objects and so on.
