The Scheepvaartmuseum

I went to Amsterdam some weeks ago and enjoyed Indian summer on the bike on the canals and  visiting new parts of this ever evolving and changing city. I went to Amsterdam to visit the WOONBEURS and look after what is new on the furniture market.but first some pictures of my favourite city on a glorious day.

New developments near the Central Station.

Living on a large canal.

Leidsestraat.

boats on the canals.

The Queens Palace on the Dam viewed from '' de bijenkorf'' department store.

I went into the BIJENKORF who has been revamped over the last years and it looks like a small Selfridges with shops from Louis Vuiton, Hermes and Fendi and corners of the leading pret a porter houses. Delicious ILLY coffee on a large bench with views over the Dam and a good magazine I needed a rest from my biking…..

A watermill in Amsterdam West.

I’ve been sitting at terraces all day long. more then biking , looking at people enjoying this wonderful day as I did.

Saint Tropez. Shopping

In Bags, Cities, Fashion, Shops on 25/05/2011 at 07:37

Saint Tropez is of course a shopping paradise and after an afternoon on the pool we went to town and went for shopping. I wanted to go first to “les galleries Tropeziennes” one of the oldest shops in St. Tropez with a choice of objects, shoes, bags, small furniture, glassware and the traditional striped transat fabrics……..

I liked very much the brown linen bag and had a closer look, but when I saw it was made by libeco, a very famous Belgian company from the neighbourhood of Bruges I thought to go to the outlet in Meulebeke and have a look aver there.

Secondly we went to RE run by our Italian friend Rosa. Since 14 years she sells very beautiful small Italian brands and since a couple of years she also sells the collection of piazzasempione. A very chic Milanese brand with superbly cut garments with that one of a kind Italian touch.

RE in the rue Gambetta.

We went to BoutiqueMy on the rue Francois Sibilli and were welcomed by Elisabeth, the shop manager who posed in front of my camera with her Le Corbusier glasses and a Ricky bag by Ralph Lauren. In the boutique she sells the collection by the Belgian Mimi Ulens de Schooten. The collection, called MUS is casual and made from the most beautiful cashmeres and wools you could ever find. Tres chic and comfy.

Blanc Bleu boutique, casual wear and a large selection of Vintage.

This is only a small selection that catched my eye. For the avid shopper there is much, much more. From the cheap and funny to the most expensive. Hours of fun shopping. And don’t forget to stop at  brasserie Senequier for a pastis at the end of the afternoon or even better when the sun sets down on the port. Pure magic.

I LIKE: ZAPA ”LE CAMELEON”

In Bags, I like, Shops on 02/04/2011 at 03:50

I saw the Celine bag and thought that the shape was quite universal and recognisable. Is it the reason that after a while I saw this kind of bag in so many different window displays. From cheap to chic. The other day while strolling around Lille with my friend Ree we saw this shape of bag in a shop called ZAPA. We went into the shop and a friendly young woman came to us and explained  the things to know about this bag.

The bag comes in 2 sizes and in a mix of about 9 leather tones and 3 fabrics, one in linen, and the two others in imitation python and leopard skin

I think that it is  really a good idea to have the customers involved in the  creation of something  personal, because a bag is something very personal. You choose a material for the bottom, another one for the top and if you wish, another for the handles. The zip comes in silver or gold colour and opens up a bit to create a little poach at the front. After having chosen your own mix you can personalise it even more with your initials.

Have a look at their website. I really like the idea. You can play around and let your creativity out.

HAVE FUN

I LIKE: THETABLEMAG

In I like, Shops on 31/03/2011 at 14:43

I saw this funny table in a magazine and really liked it. As I am an avid magazine reader I like the idea to hang the ones that you are reading in the rack and the table looks very neat and even without magazines it looks sober  . The magazines stay in shape . Smart idea. It is available in black and white and it is the kind of table that is matching with so many other styles because of the purity of the design.

Barcelona

In Decoration, Fashion, Shops on 20/03/2011 at 14:08

A recent trip to Barcelona gave me the possibility to visit some decoration shops and some antiques dealers.

I have always thought that Spanish people can be very stylish as well in the way they wear clothes and in the way they do their houses and gardens. My partner and I went to a shop named Becara where we spend hours, looking around and getting ideas. A fabulous world of beauty, not in any way minimalistic, but a huge and chic cavern of Ali Baba, filled with furniture and objects, carpets and even jewellery by my favourite Danish brand Monies.
