COLLECTIONS

In Decoration, I like, Objects, Collecting on 21/05/2012 at 17:47

I would like to show you our favourite collections that we composed the last months. A variety of collected items. To create a collection, we start from an idea or just from one particular piece and then chasing around to find more of them. It will often take a long time before we consider that a collection is ready.

Our top ten.

Collection of African Headrests.

Collection of Damascus Trays.

Collection of Sea Shells in zinc tub.

Part of our extensive collection of Beswick Copperware.

Collection of four Hat forms with plaster sculpture by Henry Sausse.

A beautiful collection of globes from the 1930s made by Chad Valley.

Part of our collection of Faux Wood Painted Beswick Vases from the 1950s.

Collection of Fulham Pottery in Pale Grey. 1930s.

Part of our collection of decorative hand mirrors.

Those Carpet Beaters would look fabulous in a small hallway or in a pantry or even in a small dining room. Funny and unexpected.

Please have a look at our site. www.collectionsof.com

Thanks for reading my post.

DECOR CHANGE.

In Collecting, Decoration, I like, Objects on 09/05/2012 at 06:48

The same wall, but a different display of objects. The first display is our collections of vintage bamboo mirrors, Most of them came from England and were made in the 1950.s

The second display is a collections of north African Tea Trays in copper. Some were meant to put on foldable legs and be used as tables, but definitely all were used to put the little coloured glasses filled with mint tea.

Have a nice day and to keep you warm, nothing as good as a wonderful hot tea or a delicious strong coffee.

Greetings from cold and rainy Belgium.

CLASSICA FAIR

THE EYE CATCHER OF THE FAIR

This chandelier that I made with the help(90%) of Nina Marie, a very talented young girl, daughter of my best friend Regine, was the eye catcher on our stand. I made it with teddy bears and other animals stuffed with small Christmas lamps and hang it in the completely black booth. Black carpet, black ceiling, black walls, 13metres long tablets,Louis XVI commode I had it all paint in the same mat black paint. A friend of me made specially for our booth a sofa/double chaise longue in an almost black fabric.I needed some space to hide our coats and other stuff , so I bought a large sheet of black shiny pond foil and covered a large round table with it. Absolutely not practical, but very funny and chic and cheap.

sculpture by Fons Schobbers

My Friend Delphine Boel showed some beautiful pieces of the BLABLA serie. Also did Ineke Otte, with her absolutely gorgeous bijoux and Fons Schobbers with 2 amazing sculptures in polyester.

John showed a vast assemblage of different style collections and we had a really amazing time. explaining to young daddies how to make a chandelier as well as changing every day our jewellery to promote Ineke, mostly we had little rats in rubber running up the sleeves of our blazer or i wore an armband in plastic grass. see picrure

It was so funny to see the amazing look in childrens eyes and hear mothers and grandmothers say, hooo we have so many teddies at home, should do something with it. Many Christmas tree will be shaped with teddy bears and surely small chandeliers will be made inspired on this one.

Carola is working with porcelain and in the conversation I had with her she explained me that she set up a business in China in the neighbourhood of Shangai. but still one hour flight by plane. She is working together with her employees to produce the finest traditional handmade porcelain to export to Europe and hopefully to other continents.

very tactile piece, soft and dreamy.

Sweet transparency and a feminine touch of orientalism

I just want them all.

Carola will show a small selection of her collection on the booth John and I have on the www.classic.be fair in begin november in Kortrijk, BELGIUM.

CLASSICA FAIR 2011

In Collecting, Fairs and Musea, Furniture, Housewhispering, I like on 16/09/2011 at 06:58

From 5 till 13 november 2011 the 4 edition of the Classica lifestyle , decoration fair will be held in the Xpo Halls in Kortrijk Belgium.

I will be a participant with my new concept THE HOUSEWHISPERER and share a booth with my partner John in COLLECTIONSOF.

The board of direction asked me to be in their commity and do the scenography of the exhibition around the theme of this year. THE CHAIR. So I am very busy in a creative way and try to visualise and explain what is that vision, visuality in my head. I have always had a passion for chairs and I have always bought and sold chairs from all origins. So of course I am honored and thrilled to show and most preferably, let feel to the public the connection that chairs from today have with chairs of the past.the way we look and should look at chairs. I would like to show that for designers it is very difficult to create something that is just new and has no value of references in the past. The use of different materials for a same shape throughout the centuries.

My favourite chair is without doubt the TULIP chair by Eero Saarinen. This for being the most elegant chair to look at and to be one of the most comfortable chair ever. In everything, the curves, material, colour white or black and the beautiful timeless fabrics, the finesse of this elegant chair reaches near perfection.

I invite you to share a moment of playfulness with me from the 5th till the 13th november.

thank you very much for reading me.

LA RENTREE

In Collecting, Decoration, Housewhispering, Objects on 13/09/2011 at 15:58

Time to start again working on my blog. It has been a nice and uncomplicated summer, holiday in Ibiza and I spend a lot of time at the seaside in Knokke Le Zoute and voila we are back and already half september. And back into business.

I started to take my new concept in practice and began to ”HOUSEWHISPER”  in some beautiful places throughout Flanders. Some friends were moving from one house to another and they asked me to choose the furniture and hang their collection of art and also to place their collections of objects. I went to their previous homes to make a choice of furniture, paintings and objets d’arts and then worked for 2 days alone with a helping hand to hang the paintings and place the furniture. I like to work alone and get the rhythm of the house listen to my favourite programs on the radio and not being disturbed not even by the telephone.

Here I Show you some quick pictures that I took with my Iphone, Bon not of the best quality but still good enough to give an idea.

The decoration of the house was done by my great friend Isabelle Reynders.

The beginning.

Mise en place.

In preparation, walls above fire place need to be painted in a soft shade.

Books need to be added yet.

Books will come soon.

Collection of mono chromatic Chinese porcelain.

Mix of styles in the dining room.

I still need a lamp above the table.

Work by Panamarenko.

I love the simplicity of this picture. The perfect colours of the cushions and the Moroccan carpet and one single object on a wall make the perfect atmosphere. I like that they give no importance at all to the walls, floor and bench whom are just white washed. And then the detail I really love is the collection of baskets.Chic and clean.

That is for me, what taste is about.

I like:Collection of silver cake stands.

In Collecting, I like, Objects on 23/05/2011 at 10:37

I like these Victorian Silver plated cake stands of collectionsof.  They are so nice in a kitchen with plates on top or small baskets or used for your Sunday afternoon tea or hot chocolate with cupcakes and scones presented on glass plates. They come from patisseries and were used till not so long ago. It could also be nice when they are used as supports for a collection of witch balls in the middle of a table full of books.

THE FANATIC COLLECTORS: Ballpoints!

In Collecting, Colours, I like on 08/05/2011 at 23:52

A couple of days ago I came out of my house and walked in the little street from the Market Place to the Park and saw some agitation around a house where the blinds have been closed for months.Painters, decorators, the light firm modular were working on that house and the first thing that got to my mind was .. OOOOH yippie a showroom from  MODULAR but NOOO it was something even more close to my heart.

Two windows with a  display of a part of a collection of ballpoints. In fact 6500 ballpoints presented on racks in a very simple way with some fabulous spots from Modular.

I love the initiative and think it is wonderful to bring under the attention of the general public the work of peoples collections. Because it is really quite a work to assemble and manage such a collection. Bravo to Modular and to Mister VAN COLEN.

I love the new lamp they expose in the window  called the SCOTTY, see it on  supermodular.

Whilst reading the May number of the English House and Garden magazine I discovered in one of the redactional articles a beautiful  stylised vase in pottery made by Sylvac. It was listed by www.collectionsof.com  for whom I have already set up a link.

Actually there is a second one, but smaller, included in the price of the one, mentioned in H&G.

SylvaC Nautilus Shell.

I like the site for the diversity of their collections.
