SUMMER BAGS.

In Bags, I like, Uncategorized on 05/05/2012 at 18:08

Reading some magazines I was attracted by bags in straw or rattan which were so fashionable in the 60′s. I remember my mother having this kind of bag.And now for this summer, in the hope we will get one, because it is autumn at this very moment, it is all over us again, in High Street shops as well in the Designer Brand shops.

I show you some examples that I like.

BRILLIANT IDEA FROM DELVAUX.

In Bags on 20/04/2012 at 10:10

The BRILLANT by DELVAUX.

Belgian company Delvaux is coming out of their range of the eternal classic bags with a  variation in fluo lime leather of their most beautiful bag ever. The BRILLANT was created in 1959 and has always been a bestseller in Belgium. It has always been a bit  the poor parent of the Kelly and the Birkin by Hermes, but certainly a bag with the same class.

I was walking through Bruges this morning to get my newspaper in the library on the Grote Markt ( you will see a glimp of the market in the reflection of the window.)and passed by the Delvaux boutique and the colours made my day, It is young, au gout du jour, daring and of course beautifully hand crafted.

Warhol inspired window display.

Colour splashes.

Beautiful red.

Market place in the reflection of the window.

More fluorescent then this you can't get.

BRAVO DELVAUX.

I wish you all a very sunny fluo day and let this colour inspire your wardrobe young and old.

It is joyous and in the perfect dosage,a very chic colour.

Thank you for reading this post.

FAVOURITE BAGS.

In Bags on 19/04/2012 at 11:22

I have always been a fan of beautiful bags and shoes. A woman can wear a jeans, a white t shirt and a blazer then she will always be well dressed. But the accessories are what makes an outfit ,outstanding.

ALWAYS having a good bag and shoes is a must. For me it is preferable to have only one bag, but the top, instead of having 27 bags of medium quality. The same for shoes. better have some Tod’s or Roger Vivier ballerinas  and  some classical pumps instead of having 36 pairs where your feet will not feel comfy in.

So, voila my selection of bags.

Zara. An absolute IT bag.

Hermes Birkin.

Reed Krakoff Boxer II

Bottega Venetta.

Chloe Paraty.

Chloe Marcie

Celine.

An absolute must have. An instant classic. Affordable for everybody and always chic. These are the leather variants, but in any material, colour or size they are beautiful.
Check the Mary Katzantrou bags for Longchamp.

Louis Vuitton speedy. Good in any size. I prefer them second hand and worn out instead of a new one that takes ages to have a nice patina.

Chanel Reissue 2.55 from 1955.

Zara Shopper Basket. 49,95 euro So chic, affordable, classic and classy. Also in black.

One of my all time favourites. The Bayswater by Mulberry.

Celine: a chic and expensive fantasy. The original one copied by all the high street brands and other.

And last but not least. The must have for summer.

The traditional basket. around 20 euro.

This is a selection of my favourite bags. For more bags and other things I love you can follow me on PINTEREST

IN VINO VERITAS.

In Bags, Colours, I like, Quick tips on 17/01/2012 at 17:39

That is often true, but in Belgium it could also mean fab bags in VERITAS. As VERITAS is a haberdashery shop on the high street.

If you fancy a new bag and don’t want to spend much money or if you don’t have the money to spend on a Gucci or a Fendi Peekaboo then I assure you they have quite a nice offer. Of course you can not compare Veritas with the quality of a Chanel bag, but for the price, you should run and buy.

A bag is as a lot of other things, one will find it too small or looking too old or don’t like the colour, but all of that is your personal vision. I only want to make people attend on things I see.

And I believe this is worth it.

Who can do better for 59 euro.

This bag is made from leather and has a really beautiful shape. Très chic and Delvaux worthy. I really love this one.

Faux crocodile and still 59 euro

There are some other colours available.

Beautiful red for 49 euro.

And very cute for 29 euro.

surrounded by all these reds, pinks and oranges it was as spring was in the air.

If you are into colour blocking. you will certainly find your bonheur at VERITAS.

sun, spring, summer.

A last snapshot.

I hope that you enjoyed this colourful post.

Thank you for reading.

THE BAGS DU MOMENT

In Bags, I like, Uncategorized on 28/12/2011 at 07:44

Let us ,for a while forget the iconic bags as the Birkin and the Kelly by Hermes or the matelasse by Chanel or the duffle and holdall by Louis Vuitton and let us have a look around what could become a IT bag or will never be one or just will have the pretention of would be,

should a IT bag be expensive? NO

look at this beauty by Zara in a very thick saddle leather and gold plated finishings for under 100 pounds

In tan and black for winter

Without any doubt the pliables by Longchamp are iconic bags.It began as a modest folding bag in 3 sizes and in a couple of years it put the house of Longchamp on top of the world.

What not one single bag could achieve with the brand of Lancel who was a very posh brand in the 50s and 60s or some other middle class bags, Longchamp made the ”Swatch” of bags the ”Golf” of cars. Always chic et de bon ton with a good pair of shoes, an oversized pliable . on a white mans shirt over a pair of jeans and loads of bangles and a woman is always chic. Every season declined in new textures and colours and prints

In the family we bought them from the beginning, You could play football with it stuffed with the clothes of the children going to boarding school or you could be as a magician because when you had no more there was always another. Des petits plaisirs de tous les jours,

Longchamp had the brilliant idea to create a foldable multi purpose bag and each season making affordable special editions as this special Christmas edition.even asking artists to make limited editions

As the new mot du jour is (and this for the last 3 years) less is better and we need to make choices we will go for the unique. The one bag who suits us the most and go for personality .Of course the budget will need to be a bit more then a pliable,

Go shopping without buying and make a list of bags you like and the purpose of them. Colour, size, use. Tell yourself that you have one budget and just need one bag. What will be your maximum affordable price.

I should say, go for a classic bag from a big brand that shows chic and personality. try to avoid the brands who struggle and have been part of a bourgeois culture. They will be always part of that culture of recognition. And try to resist the fashion bags as they cost more then 50 pound.

no more must have in Belgium by Delvaux.

new must have in Belgium by Givenchy

chic to have by YSL.

evergreen by Mulberry

My favourite Chloe.

Peekaboo by Fendi

so not new but still so chic by Chloe.

All these classic fashion bags I found on the site of http://www.luisaviaroma.com, except the Brilliant by Delvaux who even is the most expensive of them all.

See you later for more.

I like Babs Bag.

In Bags, Cities, Designers, I like on 22/06/2011 at 10:41

Yesterday I went to Antwerp where I had a meeting with Babs, the interior architect of MrK , as she calls me the interior architect of MrsK. Absolutely adorable, she had a present for me and one that I really coveted. it was a book about the first 20 years of architecture of my all time favourite residential architect Hugh Newell Jacobsen. Fabulous.

Babs did a folie and a beautiful one. She bought a bag that serves the purpose of a big shopping bag and trolley as it has wheels and a telescopic arm  to pull it. It is created by the Dutch designer nielssmeltink. for the Dutch accessory brand www.jannissima.com.

The leather is very thick and so soft and is having a kind of suede finish, very mat and a beautiful cream colour. Me, crazy of bags fell in love immediatly. I will go to Eindhoven this week end where there is an exhibition in the old Philips factories with young designers  It is called the  THE TEMPORARY CONCEPT STORE and you will find info on their blog temporaryconceptstore.blogspot.com .

The ideal travel bag. even Ryanair will like it. for a quick escape to Barcelona or Pisa.

First travel to see the interior designer of MrsK. in Antwerp.

No... it is not a pump for pumping up the tyres of my bike.

Saint Tropez. Shopping

In Bags, Cities, Fashion, Shops on 25/05/2011 at 07:37

Saint Tropez is of course a shopping paradise and after an afternoon on the pool we went to town and went for shopping. I wanted to go first to “les galleries Tropeziennes” one of the oldest shops in St. Tropez with a choice of objects, shoes, bags, small furniture, glassware and the traditional striped transat fabrics……..

Les Galeries Tropeziennes.

Les Galeries Tropeziennes.

Les Galeries Tropeziennes.

I liked very much the brown linen bag and had a closer look, but when I saw it was made by libeco, a very famous Belgian company from the neighbourhood of Bruges I thought to go to the outlet in Meulebeke and have a look aver there.

Secondly we went to RE run by our Italian friend Rosa. Since 14 years she sells very beautiful small Italian brands and since a couple of years she also sells the collection of piazzasempione. A very chic Milanese brand with superbly cut garments with that one of a kind Italian touch.

RE in the rue Gambetta.

We went to BoutiqueMy on the rue Francois Sibilli and were welcomed by Elisabeth, the shop manager who posed in front of my camera with her Le Corbusier glasses and a Ricky bag by Ralph Lauren. In the boutique she sells the collection by the Belgian Mimi Ulens de Schooten. The collection, called MUS is casual and made from the most beautiful cashmeres and wools you could ever find. Tres chic and comfy.

Tres chic fur shop of Yves Salomon. Yes some people live in very cold countries.N'est ce pas, and they are holidaying in St. Tropez.

yves-salomon

The garden at the Vuitton shop. The champagne is ready in the fridge.

louisvuitton

Blanc Bleu boutique, casual wear and a large selection of Vintage.

This is only a small selection that catched my eye. For the avid shopper there is much, much more. From the cheap and funny to the most expensive. Hours of fun shopping. And don’t forget to stop at  brasserie Senequier for a pastis at the end of the afternoon or even better when the sun sets down on the port. Pure magic.

I LIKE: The all new Taylor from Mulberry.

In Bags, I like on 16/05/2011 at 11:05

Mulberry did it again.

After the creation of two iconic bags, the Bayswater and the Alexa, Mulberry did it a third time with the Taylor.

Classically designed with contemporary detailing and  made in three sizes. I do prefer the biggest size, For me the proportions are the most equilibrated. For this moment the Taylor is available in some colours, but I hope that Mulberry will edit the bag in for example a dark carriage green, a quite dark red or navy blue. I also see this in dark  suede colours, black, brown, purple, mustard and a stone colour.

I like: Home Bag.

In Bags, Furniture, I like, Objects on 25/04/2011 at 23:59

The  Home Traveller or Home Bag.

I was amazed to find this beautiful object, bag ,furniture item. I really don’t know how to call this, but it is the funniest without disrespect….thing……I’ve seen in a while. It makes me smile and gives me a happy feeling. I love the uber classic shape of the shopping bag with one of the most traditional features on furniture:

FEET.

A bag that can travel through the house and that can be  put together with every kind of style and in every house. From the classic, traditional homes to the modernist or contemporary ones. It is a bag and that is why it matches with everything. It is very special to change the nature of an object without changing the shape.

It will always stay a bag, a chic one. It suits in every room. In the living room to put magazines and other things out of sight. In the bathroom to put your linen, in a dressing room you can put your own bags and in the bedroom to put your quilts .In an entrance hall it is an ideal storage for scarves and hats and I can go on and find more uses for it. Have a look at her website and discover some more little gems.
